History

Maylis Destremau and Bertrand Deschamps fell in love with Chile and its incredible landscapes during a trip in winter and autumn 1998. They were seduced by the human richness of the Chileans and by the beauty of the nature. They realized the tourist opportunities of the country and decided to establish, creating an agency of tourism of adventure in Pucon “aguaventura” (1999 2003).

But they were missing the mountain and they knew Valley Las Trancas and decided to establish in this village where there was everything for doing ecotourism. It was a big challenge to take part in ecotourism. They did it with great will. Here you can find the origin of the name of the Hotel: “Mountain Hotel, Mission Impossible Lodge” (inauguration in June, 2004).

The idea was to construct something different from the cabañas that existed there, bringing European concepts as the Lodge: a place of small capacity but a lot of space with a familiar, cozy and international environment and always related to the mountain and the sport. Now, Maylis and Bertrand are totally adapted in the style of Chilean way of  life, add their French touch and live in harmony in the Andes, close to the nature with their two children Emil and Alice respectively 8 and 5 years.

They wanted to do something more to develop the tourism in the region and the valley, from there was born the idea of constructing the Ecoparque Shangri La: a French concept adapted to the Chilean tourism. The canopy was made without damage to the trees and with different modules both for adults and for children. In a nearby future, the idea is to develop ecological paths inside the park, wall of climbing, natural swimming pool, everything with sustainable technologies and adapted for all kinds of persons who want to discover sport related to mountain and nature.
